Directions
From the N3, take the Howick North off-ramp and travel in to Howick. As you come down Main Street, you will notice the Post Office on your right and some hardware shops on your left.
Where Main Street veers off towards the business centre, there is a turn-off to the left (Karkloof / Rietvlei Road). There is a SupaQuick outlet here.
Take this turn and travel along for about 18 km. Just after you cross the Karkloof River, you will go up a small rise. At the top of this rise, there are signs to Thistledown Country House and Karkloof Canopy Tours as well as Karkloof Reserve. Turn left here and go along the gravel road for about 500 meters.
Turn right and follow the road to Thistledown Country House.

Thistledown is absolutely excellent accommodation. The owner, Norma, was friendly yet very professional. Norma made sure that I was comfortable without invading privacy. The rooms are sparkling clean and very comfortable. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful. I only had breakfast at Thistledown, but this was fit for a king. I also have it on good authority that dinner at Thistledown is unbeatable. I would gladly recommend Thistledown to my best friends and family, and I look forward to returning there in future. For the record, I have no affiliation with Thistledown, I am just a very happy customer.
